International Biathlon Union

Integrity in biathlon

Article 28 of the IBU Constitution requires the IBU to establish and maintain a comprehensive IBU Integrity Code and to establish a Biathlon Integrity Unit (BIU).

The Biathlon Integrity Unit is completely independent of the IBU. It only has access to this whistleblower hotline (i.e. no IBU personnel may access it).

The Integrity Unit is composed of the Biathlon Integrity Unit Board, the Head of the Integrity Unit and the Integrity Unit staff.

The terms of reference of the Biathlon Integrity Unit are available on the BIU website: https://www.biathlonintegrity.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Integrity_Unit_Rules.pdf

The Biathlon Integrity Unit was established to ensure that all stakeholders in the sport of biathlon can be confident that ethical issues in the sport will be dealt with independently and expertly.

It deals with all integrity-related matters in biathlon, including anti-doping, ethical violations, betting-related matters and any kind of results manipulation. It protects the integrity of the sport by investigating and prosecuting violations, strengthening the ability to prevent potential future misconduct and ensuring that the International Biathlon Union complies with its obligations under the World Anti-Doping Code, the IBU Constitution and the IBU Rules.

If you have information that may be relevant to the Biathlon Integrity Unit's duties, please provide this information via this reporting system or leave your contact details and a BIU officer will contact you.

You can communicate anonymously via this reporting system, but please note that evidence in disciplinary proceedings may carry less weight if it is anonymous (depending on whether or not it can be corroborated by other evidence/sources).
