Why should I submit a report?

We all live on the same planet, that we call our home. We have to protect our home together - that's more important than ever. And that includes not looking the other way when the environment is being destroyed. But we know how difficult it can be to address transgressions in one's own environment (e.g. at work) and to stand up to superiors. People who want to change something can therefore often only do so anonymously and need help from the outside. Greenpeace can provide this support and has years of experience in helping to uncover wrong-doings. With your anonymous report you can set the change in motion!

What kind of reports can I submit?

Information, documents, reports and files that show that companies are actively ignoring and blocking climate protection, minimizing or covering up crimes against nature and the environment, and disregarding environmental protection regulations.

You will receive detailed information on the possible areas to report on during the reporting process.

In reports from which countries is Greenpeace interested in?

This whistleblowing box is managed by Greenpeace in Central and Eastern Europe. Our Greenpeace office covers the regions and countries of Austria, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. We are therefore specifically looking for reports from these countries or from companies and groups that have their headquarters in these countries.

Is every report followed up by Greenpeace?

Greenpeace carefully examines every report, because every report has the potential to be the starting point of an investigation and, with the help of further evidence and facts, can lead to stopping the wrong-doing. Depending on the subject matter, the validity of the evidence and the urgency, Greenpeace decides whether, to what extent and with what output the report will be pursued in depth. For research purposes, Greenpeace may contact and partner with media or partners from civil society. However, your anonymity will be preserved at all times.

What is the process to submit a report? How do I set up a postbox?

If you would like to submit a named or anonymous report, click the button "Submit Report" at the top of our main page.

There are 4 steps to the reporting process:

1. First, you will be asked to read an informational text on how to protect your anonymity and you will be asked to answer a security query.
2. On the following page, you will be asked about the category of your report.
3. On the report page, you can describe your report in your own words and answer questions about the incident. You have 5,000 characters available for the free text, which corresponds to one full page. You may also send a file up to 5 MB to support your report. Please make sure that these documents do not reveal any personal details, so that your anonymity is guaranteed. After sending your report, you will receive a reference number as proof that you have sent this report.
4. Following this process, please set up your own secure mailbox directly on the platform. With the help of your secured postbox you will receive feedback from us, can answer follow-up questions, and be informed about the progress of your report.

If you already have set up a secured postbox, you can access this postbox directly via the "Login" button. Here, too, you must first answer the security query.

As long as you do not enter any data yourself that allows conclusions to be drawn about your person, the BKMS^® System protects your anonymity technically.

How do I receive feedback and remain anonymous at the same time?

The overriding principle of the BKMS^® procedure in use is the protection of the whistleblower. The system's anonymity protection function is certified by an independent body.

When setting up your secured postbox, you choose your pseudonym/username and password yourself. These access data are not visible to anyone but yourself. If you lose your access data, please submit a new report and set up a new postbox. If possible, please include the reference number of your old report. Since this is a new postbox, the content of your old report is not available here.

Your report will be kept anonymous through encryption and other special security processes. If you submit your report anonymously, you do not have to provide any personal information. Do not enter any data that could be used to draw conclusions about your person. Please do not use any technical device, such as a PC or smartphone, provided by your employer to submit your report.

Via the secured postbox, Greenpeace will give you feedback on what will happen with your report or ask questions if details are unclear - you will remain anonymous during the dialogue. We are interested in tips and reports to prevent damage and protect the environment, not in you as a whistleblower.

How does Greenpeace guarantee my anonymity?

This Greenpeace whistleblower box is based on the Business Keeper Monitoring System - BKMS^® System for short - which has been certified by many independent institutions and is used by companies worldwide as part of compliance guidelines.
